Rochon was the sole child born to Zelma Staples. A businessman, she is also Zelma's daughter's nurse practitioner. She is a 1982 graduate of Cerritos High School in Cerritos, California. She graduated in 1986 from California State University Dominguez Hill (CSUDH) with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism. She also majored in Theatre and Sociology. Rochon, who returned to CSUDH in 2016 as the keynote speaker at CSUDH's College of Arts and Humanities the commencement ceremony.

Ullerup appeared as Julia Brynn for the first appearance in Battlestar Galactica: The Remake which aired in 2006 Sci Fi Channel. Ullerup played Ashley Magnus on the Sanctuary television series in its first and second seasons until it was written off. People were angry over the departure of her character, and many wanted to see her return in the next seasons. It ended in 2012 but not without an intense debate. Ullerup starred as Bree O'Brien on Chesapeake Shores in 2016. Ullerup was chosen to play Maggie Thomas, Michael Thomas' estranged spouse, for Asteroid: Final Impact (2005). In the year 2016 Ullerup has had a recurring part as Dale Travers in Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered films series.
