Patricia Velásquez
Creativity goes beyond films, canvas and
photos. It also catalyzes charity or philanthropy as well as activism.
Award-winning model, actress, and history-making supermodel and philanthropist
who is a staunch supporter, conscientious activist as well as a writer and
loved mom Patricia Velasquez applies an eternal creative spirit to everything
she does, whether it's starring in blockbuster movies like The Curse of La
Llorona or launching the Wayuu Taya Foundation and participating on the UNESCO
Board. She believes of intuition and a creator of her own path. "I
consider my professional life as a lengthy staircase," she says. "I
have been through every step. It was incredible to accomplish that, given that
there was a long-term vigor. I just put my head downand moving one step at a
pace, and didn't stop." The imagery closely resembles a formative moment.
After a short time, she moved to Venezuela. She was born in Venezuela and
raised in France and Mexico. In South America, her parents worked in education and
moved their family to a cramped apartment without running water and no
elevators. Patricia took fifteen flights of stairs up with heavy buckets in
order to provide water to the building. She tried to assist her family as much
as she could despite her engineering studies and intense dance classes. The
commitment she made to her family members, which was the key to her rise to the
top of the fashion industry, got her sought-after to model in Milan. She
recalls that she was requested to travel to Italy by the fashion industry.
"If I could pay thirty dollars a month back to Venezuela, it would be
worth it since that would be enough to cover the cost of every single drop of
water in the building." Patricia's triumph was an important moment in
fashion, as she attracted industry attention to South America for the first
time. The "first model Karl Lagerfeld photographed" was an incredible
breakthrough. Her next step was to be featured in fashion shows as well as
front editorial spreads and even in ads for Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana and
Fendi. With her worldwide fame, she appeared on Oprah as well as Ford Models'
"Supermodel of the World" contest , as well. The covers of her book
also appeared of Vogue, Bazaar, Marie Claire and many other publications.
