Pom Klementieff
Pom Klementieff, a French actress was
born on May 3, 1986. She was a student at the Cours Florent drama academy in
Paris. Her roles include Loup (2009) as well as Sleepless Night (2011). She is
the voice of Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Guardians of the
Galaxy Vol. 2. (2017). Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Avengers: Endgame (2019).
Pom Klementieff was raised in Quebec City to a Korean father and a
French-Russian wife. He was consul for the French government. Her father was a
painter Eugene Klementieff. Pom was her nickname because it sounds similar to
the Korean words "spring" and 'tiger" in Korean. Klementieff
lived for a year in Canada prior to moving her family frequently because of her
father's occupation. They resided in Japan as well as the Ivory Coast, before
settling in France. Klementieff lost her father to cancer around the age of
five. Her mother was also diagnosed with schizophrenia. Klementieff was raised
in France by her aunt and paternal uncle. Her uncle, whom she called "like
[her] father", died at age 18. Her brother, who was older, who committed
suicide seven years later, was her aunt. After the passing of her uncle,
Klementieff went to law school for a short time to please her aunt. However,
she did not find the career path appealing. She was also salesperson and
waitress in France. She began acting when was just 19 at the Cours Florent
theatre school in Paris. After completing her education and gaining an award in
the theater which provided her with two years of free tuition alongside some of
the top instructors at the school. Klementieff was the stepdaughter of
Catherine Deneuve in Apres lui (2006) which was her first acting job
professionally. Three days were spent filming her scenes. Klementieff was
supposed to push another person up a set staircase but fell to the ground. Gael
Mostl kept the filming in the final film. Her debut lead role came in Loup
(2009) the French film that follows a tribe of reindeer herders living in the
Siberian mountains. Klementieff was filming in a camp hours away from the
closest village. It was there that temperatures plummeted to zero.
