Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was born in Glen Ellyn in Illinois and was raised in Chicago. Amy resided in GlenEllyn in Illinois until she graduated from junior college. The family also resided in the Middle East, where her parents, Bob (and Barb) taught at American School. Amy is the oldest of three siblings: Betsy, Lori, and brother Joe. Amy has traveled all over Europe both with her family and alone. Her parents were teachers so they had the opportunity to spend their summers camping together and travel all across the United States. In actuality, they've camp in every state with the exception of Alaska. Amy was also in Rwanda after the 1994 war to aid relief efforts. Amy was a gifted actor in school productions and was a winner of writing contests. She was a talented athlete during high school, and was a participant in the very first 3200-meter relay at the Illinois girls track. After suffering an injury, Amy returned to school and performed in a variety of roles on the stage, starting with Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July” and then directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Da and Lemon”. Amy was a Knox College student from Galesburg, Illinois. She graduated with an B.A. East Asian history, with an emphasis on Theater. Following graduation, she relocated to Chicago where she studied Improv at the Improv Olympics as well as acting at The Actor's Center. Following graduation she was offered a contract job as an actress on the defunct soap show Another World (1964). The actress has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of "Outstanding Supporting Actress in the category of Daytime Drama Series". The most memorable of her roles were of strong women as Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone in Falcone (2000), Katie Owen in Peacemakers (2003) alongside Tom Berenger in Peacemakers (2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods. Carlson resides in New York City with husband Syd Butler, bassist for Les Savy Fav, where she also is employed in the music industry as an independent business as part-owner of the independent label "Frenchkiss Records". Amy continues to work on films and write.
