Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger was born on the
25th of April 1969, in Katy, Texas, Her mother, Kjellfrid Irene (Andreassen),
is a Norwegian-born former nurse and midwife of Norwegian, Kven (Finnish) as
well as Swedish descent. Her father, Emil Erich Zellweger, is an engineer born
in Switzerland. The couple got married in 1963. Drew Zellweger is Renee's
brother, and he was born on the 15th of February 1967. Renee became interested
in acting during high school while working on the drama club. She took an
acting course at University of Texas (Austin) and began to think about acting
as a career. She wanted to be an actor following her graduation, however
Hollywood can be a difficult field to enter. Renee decided not to leave Texas
and went to audition in Houston to be cast in roles. Matthew McConaughey was
another Hollywood newcomer she met on set for Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2: The
Next Generation (1994). Renee was aware that he was working on a project , and
she auditioned. The role was given to her in Love and an offer of a 45 (1994).
This earned her enough praise that she relocated to Los Angeles. She was then
offered another part in The Whole Wide World (1996) that gave her her first big
break. Cameron Crowe was busy casting his next film which was Jerry Maguire (1996),starring
Tom Cruise. Crowe was looking at actresses such like Cameron Diaz, Bridget
Fonda, Winona Ryder, and Marisa Tomei, when he heard of Zellweger's performance
in The Whole Wide World (1996). He auditioned Zellweger and was confident that
the actress was the perfect Dorothy Boyd. After her successes in a couple of
independent films, Renee felt confident enough to go back to the big-budget
Hollywood film industry. Meryl Streep co-starred in One True Thing (1998).
Also, she starred with Jim Carrey in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) and
began dating Carrey within a short time. Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
