She educated at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts located in the Arts District of downtown Dallas. She earned her BFA in acting at Stephens College, and also trained at the British American Drama Academy. Additionally, she spent six years working at the highly regarded Dallas Theatre Center and one year at the theater's Encore Company. Before making her screen debut, she began her acting career in the theater. Her stage credits in theater include performances of "As As You like It", "A Funny Thing occurred on the way to the Forum", "Measure for Measure", "Baby" and "Chicago" along with numerous others. Her first big break came when she starred alongside Angelina Jolie in Michael Cristofer's highly acclaimed HBO Telefilm Gia (1998) that made her popular to critics and viewers alike. Then came the sci-fi time-travel adventure Frequency (2000) featuring Dennis Quaid and Neil LaBute's much-anticipated Nurse Betty (2000) opposite Renee Zellweger, Elizabeth showed her charismatic acting skills. With many credits from television series, theaters and films, Elizabeth Mitchell continues to be a top performer in the acting field. During filming Frequency (2000) the actress injured her nose. In 1994, she appeared in a Hertz Rent-A-Car commercial but "they removed it due to the O.J. thing." David Lee Smith was her boyfriend in the year 1995. They reside in Dallas with their parents, who are tax and real estate lawyers. Returning to the U.S. from Europe after an extended run as Rosalind in a theater production "As As You like It". Her parents relocated to Dallas, Texas shortly after she was born in LA, in 1970. She attended Booker T. Washington High School of the Performing and Visual Arts in the city of Dallas, Texas. The school graduated Stephens College in 1991 with the Fine Arts Degree. Starred in Man and Boy (2002) alongside Ioan Gruffudd. It aired on BBC 1 TV in March 2002.
