Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland was born to actresses Melissa D. Canaday, and Edward James Hyland in New York City. When she was just four years old she got into the industry by doing voice overs and commercials. The first film she made was Private Parts (1997). She then moved on to The Object of My Affection (1998) followed by time in Another World (1964) as "Rain Wolfe" who was a child that was found in the park, and cared for by Josie and Gary. Sarah would go on to work with Amy Carlson ("Josie") at least twice: Falcone (2000) and Law & Order (1990) as well as Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005). Sarah was cast in Jennifer Love Hewitt’s The Audrey Hepburn Story(2000) as one of the younger Audrey Hepburns. The following year, she was cast on ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney: Annie (1999), starring Audra McDonald, Victor Garber, Kristin Chernoweth, Joe Gould's Secret ((2000) and Falcone ((2000)). Sarah was a vocalist in jazz, tap and hip-hop as well as television and film work. Sarah, a New Yorker, also took part as an invited performer with her tap and theatre dance classes at "Reel to Real" Lincoln Center. After being home-schooled by her mom, she attended public school until second grade. She was admitted in the 6th year to PPAS (Professional Performing Arts School) in which she remained until she graduated in 2008. Sarah was 18 when she relocated to Los Angeles. She landed the pilot named "My American Family" within two weeks. Once picked up the name was changed to Modern Family (2009). Today, Sarah portrays "Haley Dunphy", the eldest Dunphy child. Modern Family (2009) was nominated for the Emmy award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
