Bonnie Wright

Bonnie Francesca Wright, born 17 February 1991 is an English actress. She is also a director, model, activist as well as an actress. The most well-known part of her career is the role of Ginny Weasley who is the Harry Potter film series's main character. Born in London, Wright portrayed the character for a decade before she was chosen to play the character in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II (2011). Wright was in numerous independent films following the Harry Potter series. These films were mixed reviews. Wright made her stage debut as the lead character in Peter Ustinov's The Moment of Truth at the Southwark Playhouse in 2013.Wright graduated from the University of the Arts London in 2012 with a bachelor's diploma in filmmaking. Her company was later established as her own production firm, BonBonLumiere, and began to make short films. Her first film as a director was the coming-of-age-drama Separate We Come, Separate We Go (2012) with David Thewlis, which was released at the Cannes Film Festival to critical acclaim. She directed Know Thyself (2016), which starred Christian Coulson, and Sextant (2016) Both of which featured landscape and emotion as themes. Wright's trilogy Phone Calls, which was premiered at Tribeca Film Festival 2017, featured three episodes. Medusa’s Ankles (2018) with Kerry Fox, Jason Isaacs and based upon A. S. Byatt’s The Matisse Stories. She has directed music videos for Scarlett Johansson and Pete Yorn. Wright is an ambassador for Greenpeace and Lumos, and has been recognized for her environmental activism.
