Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara is a famous American actress and singer with Irish descent. The fiery, passionate roles she appeared in myriad of American films were admired by the green-eyed beauty , with fiery hair and flaming eyes. Her stunning look and natural beauty was well-loved. Her name was renowned in Hollywood as the "Queen of Technicolor". Her roles on screen reflect her strong, brave spirit that struggled for her survival and fame in a male-dominated world. She often referred to herself as the "tough Irish lass" who was never willing to compromise her reputation and respect to be able to play the roles she wanted through merit. She was a vocal advocate for women in film and television, and gained numerous followers due to this. Her autobiography, "Tis Herself", was published in 2004. The book was an honest and transparent narrative of her life as well as the challenges she had to face in her climb to success. She was an adventurous lady who didn't fear doing her own stunts. Over the years she appeared in more than 60 films, and gained an enormous amount of fame throughout the world. After she left Parra the couple got married Charles F. Blair Jr. in 1968. Blair was a brigadier in the past and chief pilot, and was an early pioneer in transatlantic aviation. O'Hara took a break just a few years after the couple's marriage. Blair however, died in a tragic plane crash in 1978. O'Hara's happiness lasted only a few days. The following year, she was diagnosed with uterine carcinoma and required urgent surgery. The cancer was eventually removed. The following years her health was declining and she suffered from six heart attacks, short-term memory loss and type 2 diabetes mellitus. O'Hara, who was 95, peacefully died in Boise on the 24th of October, 2015.
