Don Rickles Biography

Don Rickles, an American comedian, author and actor was born in New York. He was a well-known and popular entertainer. His quick wit and funny remarks, combined with his genuine concern for his audience, made him an irresistible combination that brought laughter, joy, and amusement. Due to his ability to make an inoffensive insult seem funny and hilarious, he was a regular participant in celebrity roast circuits. His crude and hurtful remarks attracted attention, but the recipient would always be laughing. While he began as a regular comedian and did routinely-prepared jokes but he changed his plan after realizing that his impromptu insults were more popular than his prepared material. His comedy style was loved by many, among them Frank Sinatra. In addition to appearing in a variety of television and film shows, He also released two comedy albums. He was awarded numerous honors, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from 'The Comedy Awards'. Don Rickles had only small TV roles after he graduated. To supplement his income, he started performing stand-up comedy and eventually created his "insult comedian" persona. The 1970s saw him take on an important role in the blockbuster movie, Kelly's Heroes (1970), which starred Clint Eastwood. He appeared in a variety of comedies on television, including 'The Dean Martin Roasts' (1973) and  The Don Rickles show' (1972). Barbara Sklar married Don Rickles on March 14, 1965. The couple had two kids, Mindy and Larry. Their son died on December 31, 2011. His most cherished acquaintance was Bob Newhart and the two often vacationed together along with their wives. They were on various shows including "Newhart" and Don Rickles passed away from kidney failure in his Beverly Hills home on April 6, 2017.
